  3. Welcome to the Supreme Court Opinions CDROM!

  5. This CDROM contains 18,888 files in 465 megabytes relating to Supreme 
  6. Court opinions from 1988 to 1994.  This CDROM contains syllabi, concurring
  7. opinions, dissenting opinions, per curiam, and other pertinent text files
  8. in ASCII and WordPerfect format from 544 cases, totalling 3830 files.  
  9. The original scanned briefs from 48 cases in 1991 and 1992 are included 
  10. as well -- a total of 4704 images!

  15. MSDOS Quick Start

  17. Change to your CDROM drive and type "view" (without quotes).

  45. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM files
  46.  
  47. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  48. to view our disc.

  51. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  52. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.  
  53.  
  54. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:
  55.  
  56.     1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  57.     2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  58.     3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  59.     4) Click on OK
  60.  
  61. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 1.1 (Windows,
  62. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), Netscape 1.22 (Windows), Mosaic 2.00 (Final
  63. Beta), and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  70. The files and applications on this cdrom are sorted by category.
  71. To access the files or applications just double-click on the item you
  72. are interested in.  If the files are compress or binhexed, you have
  73. to uncompress or unbinhex them before using.  There are utilities on this
  74. CDROM specificly for this task. They are in the 'MacUtils' Folder.

  76. Note: some folders include a readme document.  We advise that you
  77. read the readme document before opening any files or applications.

  81. MSDOS and MS Windows users:
  82. --------------------------

  84. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the VIEW program
  85. for MSDOS and Windows in the root directory of the CDROM.  This
  86. program allows you to page through the index files, browse through
  87. the images on the CDROM, view the documentation and uncompress the
  88. program(s) you want onto your hard disk.  
  89.  
  90. In order to start up the VIEW program, do one of the following:
  91.  
  92. For MSDOS: just type in VIEW to start to view this document.  For
  93. Windows: From the Program Manager, choose the RUN option under the
  94. FILE menu, then enter "D: VIEW" at the run option bar.  (Substitute
  95. your CDROM drive letter for "D" if it is different.)

  97. Electronic Product Catalog (MS Windows):

  100. To install Walnut Creek CDROM's Electronic Catalog, choose the RUN
  101. option from the FILE menu under Window's Program Manager.
  102. In the Command Line box, type in d:setup_a (Substitute d with
  103. the letter that identifies your CDROM drive if it's different
  104. from this example)

  111. be considered to be a sort of try before you buy system where you are
  112. expected to pay the program author a registration fee if you find the
